PARIS (Reuters) – Norway has reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza, or bird flu, on a farm in the north of the country, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) said on Tuesday, as Europe faces a seasonal upturn in the deadly disease.

The virus was detected in a flock of 7,500 poultry in the district of Hadsel in the county of Nordland, causing the death of 500 birds, the Paris-based WOAH said, citing a report from the Norwegian authorities.
