Natural disasters cost China $2.8 billion in August

BEIJING (Reuters) -Natural disasters in China caused direct economic loss of 19.6 billion yuan ($2.75 billion) in August, the Ministry of Emergency Management said on Wednesday.

Across the country, more than 10 million people were affected by floods, droughts and other disasters last month, while 122 people were killed or went missing, the ministry said.
