(Washington, D.C) — NASA says one of its satellites has ended its mission and is expected to re-enter Earth’s atmosphere in the coming weeks. The agency did not specify a re-entry date for its Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory satellite. As of this week, the satellite was orbiting about 171 miles above Earth’s surface. As the spacecraft descends deeper into the atmosphere, it will begin to burn up and debris is expected to be minimal. NASA said Swift’s discoveries contributed to around seven-thousand scientific papers.
