The New York Mets placed right-hander Frankie Montas on the 15-day injured list with a UCL injury on Saturday. However, he will miss the rest of the season, per manager Carlos Mendoza.

“He’s got a pretty significant injury there,” Mendoza added. He also noted that Tommy John surgery is a possibility.

In a corresponding move, the Mets recalled right-hander Huascar Brazoban from Triple-A, who they had sent down three weeks ago.

Montas is a 10-year veteran, who has appeared in 169 games (136 starts). In 2021, he started a league-high 32 games for the Oakland Athletics, posting a 3.37 ERA and 207 strikeouts.

In 2024, Montas had a 4.84 ERA in 30 starts between the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers.

The Mets signed him to a two-year, $34-million deal during the offseason. However, he has only played nine games this season, recording a 6.28 ERA and 1.603 WHIP.

Brazoban has appeared in 44 games this season for the Mets, starting three. He currently holds a 5-2 record with a 3.83 ERA and 51 strikeouts.

In action at Triple-A Syracuse, Brazoban had a 6.75 ERA over 10 2/3 innings.
