(Chicago, IL) — McDonald’s is investing eight-point-five-billion dollars over the next decade to modernize restaurants, expand technology and attract more customers.

The plan includes updated kitchens, more AI, expanded rewards and new menu items, including chicken bowls, snack wraps and egg bites.

McDonald’s says its AI tools could free employees to focus more on customers and food preparation.

The company is also expanding its coffee and beverage offerings, while testing new ways to serve customers faster.

McDonald’s operates more than 46-thousand restaurants worldwide and says the changes are aimed at boosting sales and efficiency.
