While only one of the two teams competing in the American League Championship Series was from the United States, that didn’t seem to have a negative effect on U.S. viewership numbers.

Monday’s Game 7 of the ALCS, won 4-3 by the Toronto Blue Jays over the Seattle Mariners to send Toronto its first World Series since 1993, averaged a Nielsen-estimated 8.91 viewers across Fox and FS1 (9.03 million across all Fox platforms).

That makes it the highest-viewed ALCS game since Game 7 of the 2017 ALCS between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros and up 32% from the last ALCS Game 7 between the Astros and Texas Rangers in 2023.

Add in the 6.0 million who watched on SportsNet in Canada and the viewership numbers for Monday’s game soar to 15 million viewers.

Monday’s game peaked with 12.35 million viewers in the 10:45 p.m. quarter-hour, shortly after George Springer’s go-ahead three-run homer.

Seattle was also part of the second-highest-viewed game of this year’s postseason. The Mariners’ Game 5 American League Division Series victory over the Detroit Tigers drew 8.59 million viewers.

Part of Seattle’s popularity was tied to Cal Raleigh’s magical season. The catcher hit 60 homers in the regular season and five more in the playoffs. The Mariners also were attempting to reach the World Series for the first time in franchise history.
