The Maple Leafs announced on Monday that they would “part ways” with general manager Brad Treliving after nearly three years of his stewardship.

Treliving took on the role in May 2023. After two upper-division finishes, including a first-place finish in 2024-25, the Leafs have fallen off this season, dropping completely out of playoff contention.

Last season, the Leafs won a first-round playoff series against the Ottawa Senators. This season, Toronto is 14th out of 16 teams in the Eastern Conference.

“Throughout the course of this season, there has been deep analysis into both the current state of the Maple Leafs organization and the direction needed to achieve the ultimate goal of delivering a Stanley Cup championship to the city,” Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment president and CEO Keith Pelley said in a statement. “Brad Treliving is a man that we all have deep respect and appreciation for, both as a hockey executive and as a person, but it was determined that the club must chart a new course under different leadership.

“The organization is grateful for all that Brad has contributed in his nearly three years with the Maple Leafs and we wish him and his family the very best.”

Treliving’s teams finished with a 129-82-27 regular-season record and 10-10-0 playoff record during his tenure.
