ROME, May 28 (Reuters) – KKR & Co said on Thursday it would open an office in Milan as the U.S. private equity firm looks to expand its presence in Italy after significant investments in the telecoms and energy sectors.
Over the past two years, a KKR-led consortium bought Telecom Italia’s fixed-line network for €19 billion ($22 billion), while KKR took a 30% stake in Eni’s biofuel unit Enilive for around €3.6 billion.
The new office will cover KKR’s activities across private equity, real assets, credit and insurance, as well as its private wealth business in Italy, the firm said in a statement.
It will be led by Marco Fontana, a partner in KKR’s infrastructure team. Nicolo Della Casa, a director in the private equity team, will lead the firm’s private equity activities in Italy.
