(Reuters) -Paramount’s CBS News on Thursday named veteran broadcast and cable news journalist Kim Harvey as top producer of its flagship nightly newscast, “CBS Evening News,” making her only the second woman to helm the 77-year-old broadcast.

Harvey, who joined CBS News in 2017, is succeeding Guy Campanile and steps into the executive producer role after recently serving as senior broadcast producer.

Campanile will be returning to prime-time news magazine “60 Minutes,” a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

A longtime “CBS Evening News” producer, Harvey previously worked at CNN, Fox News and MSNBC, on programs including “The Rachel Maddow Show” and “American Morning.”

“Her career at the CBS Evening News makes her the ideal candidate and I’m pleased to continue working with her on showcasing our extraordinary reporting and storytelling every night,” said Tom Cibrowski, president and executive editor, CBS News.

The move comes shortly after CBS appointed Tanya Simon executive producer of “60 Minutes,” replacing Bill Owens, who stepped down citing a lack of editorial independence.
