Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards avoided a significant injury on his right ankle, but his status for Saturday’s contest against visiting North Dakota is unclear.

X-rays on Edwards’ ankle came back negative after he was hurt in the opening minutes of last Saturday’s 24-21 loss to Iowa State in Dublin, Ireland.

Still, Wildcats coach Chris Klieman isn’t sure if Edwards will be able to practice Tuesday.

“I know the X-ray came back negative, so that was a positive thing,” Klieman told reporters Monday. “But we won’t know much because we don’t practice until Tuesday. So the treatments don’t even start until (Monday) afternoon and we were gonna do nothing with the kids this morning. … I think we’ll probably have a better idea maybe on Wednesday.”

Edwards is in his second season at Kansas State after transferring from Colorado. He rushed for 546 yards and five touchdowns and caught 19 passes for 133 yards and two scores last season.

Edwards left before he even had a carry Saturday. He muffed a punt three minutes into the game and took a hit from an Iowa State defender.

Joe Jackson rushed for 51 yards on 12 carries with Edwards sidelined.
