TOKYO (Reuters) -Japan will remain steadfast in its request for a review of U.S. tariffs and would not accept a partial agreement, Tokyo’s chief tariff negotiator Ryosei Akazawa said on Friday.

“A partial agreement is not possible. We aim to negotiate towards a comprehensive package deal that satisfies both Japan and the United States,” Akazawa told reporters ahead of his departure to Washington.

Akazawa is headed for a sixth round of tariff negotiations with U.S. counterparts for the final talks before Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and U.S. President Donald Trump are to meet in Canada on the sidelines of the Group of Seven meeting.
