The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired Greg Newsome II and a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for fellow cornerback Tyson Campbell and a seventh-round selection in the same draft.

The teams confirmed the swap early Thursday morning. It’s the second trade this week for the Browns, who also dealt backup quarterback Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry has stockpiled 10 picks for the 2026 draft, which already included Jacksonville’s first-round pick as part of the Travis Hunter trade in April.

Thursday’s trade is the latest aggressive move by the Jaguars (4-1) and general manager James Gladstone, who said the motive is all about winning.

“We are trying to win football games now and Greg helps us do that,” Gladstone said. “His skill set is a strong fit for our defensive scheme, which puts more vision on the quarterback and will lean on Greg’s ability to find the football.”

Newsome, 25, is playing this season on a fifth-year option after being selected by the Browns with the 26th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the year Jacksonville drafted Trevor Lawrence No. 1 overall. Newsome has 23 tackles in five games (all starts) this season. The seventh-round pick Jacksonville will receive originated with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Newsome has totaled 178 tackles and three interceptions in 59 career games (47 starts) with Cleveland.

Campbell, 25, has 34 tackles and a forced fumble in five games (all starts) this season, one year removed from signing a four-year, $76.5 million extension.

Cleveland received a draft pick in 2026 in the sixth round that Jacksonville received in a previous deal with the Jets.

Campbell has 296 tackles, six interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 60 career games (59 starts) with the Jaguars.

The Browns (1-4) made multiple moves at the cornerback position on Wednesday, signing Dom Jones to the active roster, Dee Williams to the practice squad and placing Ameer Speed on the practice squad injured list.
