The New York Islanders will host the 2027 NHL All-Star Weekend at UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y., the league announced on Friday.

The move comes on the heels of the NHL canceling the Olympic send-off event that was set for the UBS Arena in February.

The Islanders previously were awarded the 2026 All-Star Game, but that was nixed after the league opted against holding the game in the same year as the Winter Olympics. The proposed weekend then was going to be turned into a pre-Olympics event. However, that went by the boards as well.

The cancellations drew the ire of New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who expressed her disappointment to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman in a letter and requested the league “bring a hockey event with equal or greater economic activity and cultural value to the region in 2027.”

League games will pause from Feb. 6-24 to accommodate the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The last time NHL players competed in the Olympics was in 2014, when Canada won gold in Sochi, Russia.

The Islanders have hosted the NHL All-Star Game on one previous occasion. Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky was named the 1983 All-Star Game MVP while leading the Campbell Conference All-Stars to a 9-3 victory over the Wales Conference in Nassau Coliseum.

The All-Star Weekend is set to begin on Feb. 5, 2027.
