India’s Gland Pharma beats quarterly profit view on strong Europe, US sales

Aug 10 (Reuters) – India’s Gland Pharma reported a bigger-than-expected first-quarter profit on Monday, boosted by strong sales in its key European and U.S. markets.

The Hyderabad-based company reported a consolidated net profit of 3.17 billion rupees ($33.3 million) for the quarter ended June 30, from 2.15 billion rupees a year earlier.

That also beat analysts’ average estimate of 2.89 billion rupees, per data compiled by LSEG.

Here are some more details:

• U.S. sales, which make up more than half of the total, rose 32%, while the Europe business posted a 20% rise.

• Gland Pharma’s results have been consistently boosted since a recovery in production at its Cenexi units in France and Belgium in late 2025.

• Disruption at these units had hurt the drugmaker’s results throughout most of last year.

• Overall revenue rose 20% to 18 billion rupees, also beating estimates of 17.33 billion rupees.

• Gland Pharma and several of its Indian generic drugmaker peers that derive a large share of their revenue from the U.S. have been grappling with limited pricing power amid stiff competition in that market.

• Larger rivals Cipla and Dr Reddy’s also reported subdued U.S. sales during the quarter.
