Hungary’s government scraps VAT on subscription drugs

BUDAPEST, July 23 (Reuters) – Hungary’s government will scrap a 5% value-added tax on subscription drugs from September 1, which will cost the budget 7 billion forints ($21.93 million), Prime Minister Peter Magyar said on Thursday.
The government is also planning to cut the value-added tax on wood used for heating, and healthy foodstuffs, but that will be a larger item, costing more to the budget, Magyar said at a briefing.
