June 10 (Reuters) – Humana said on Wednesday it has agreed to sell all or substantially all of its minority stake in Gentiva, a provider of hospice and palliative care services, in a deal valuing the stake at about $900 million.

• The stake will be sold to a group of investors, Humana said, without disclosing other financial terms.

• Humana plans to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes and said the deal is not expected to affect its 2026 earnings.

• The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.

• Gentiva provides hospice care and support for seriously ill patients at more than 430 locations in 35 states.

• Humana’s Gentiva stake stems from its 2021 Kindred at Home deal, after which it said it would sell non-core hospice and personal care businesses.

• In 2022, Humana sold a majority stake in Kindred at Home’s hospice and personal care units to private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.
