July 30 (Reuters) – British biotech firm Relation Therapeutics said on Wednesday it had entered into a research collaboration with GSK worth up to $110 million to generate human cellular datasets and train AI models for identifying potential new drug targets.

Here are some details:

• Under the agreement, Relation will generate large-scale datasets showing how human cells respond to genetic and drug interventions, with the information used to train AI foundation models, including Relation’s MORGAN platform.

• The collaboration builds on an earlier partnership between the companies focused on fibrotic diseases and osteoarthritis.

• GSK has been increasing investment in research and development as it seeks to strengthen its drug pipeline, while also expanding the use of AI to improve the efficiency and success rate of drug discovery.
