FARMINGDALE, New York (Reuters) -A brief look at the 12-man U.S. Ryder Cup team that will face holders Europe in the biennial competition this week at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.

SAM BURNS

Age: 29

World ranking: 23

Ryder Cup appearances, record: One (2023), 1-2-0

Burns arrives at Bethpage Black following a 2025 PGA Tour season during which he recorded six-top 10 finishes, including a share of seventh place at both the U.S. Open and Tour Championship.

PATRICK CANTLAY

Age: 33

World ranking: 22

Ryder Cup appearances, record: Two (2021, 2023), 5-2-1

Cantlay, who became the centre of controversy at the 2023 Ryder Cup for not wearing a team cap, is a trusted force in any match-play setting and his 0.687 winning percentage across two Ryder Cups is the best of anyone on the current U.S. team.

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU

Age: 32

World ranking: 21

Ryder Cup appearances, record: Two (2018, 2021), 2-3-1

DeChambeau, whose strong performances at majors continued in 2025, tends to thrive in big-time moments and, with a lively New York crowd behind him, is expected to be an animated performer at Bethpage and a relentless opponent for anyone he faces.

HARRIS ENGLISH

Age: 36

World ranking: 10

Ryder Cup appearances, record: One (2021), 1-2-0

English goes into the Ryder Cup full of confidence after producing a memorable 2025 season during which he earned his fifth PGA Tour victory and secured runner-up finishes in two of the year’s four major championships.

BEN GRIFFIN

Age: 29

World ranking: 11

Ryder Cup appearances, record: First appearance

Griffin brings momentum and confidence into Bethpage on the heels of a breakout season during which he recorded his first two career wins, and produced 10 top-10 results which tied for second-most behind only Scottie Scheffler.

RUSSELL HENLEY

Age: 36

World ranking: 3

Ryder Cup appearances, record: First appearance

Henley will be making his Ryder Cup debut but he is no stranger to team competition having gone 3-1-0 in last year’s Presidents Cup and his proven match-play credentials bring fresh energy to the U.S. lineup.

COLLIN MORIKAWA

Age: 28

World ranking: 8

Ryder Cup appearances, record: Two (2021, 2023), 4-3-1

Morikawa went undefeated in his Ryder Cup debut in 2021 at Whistling Straits where he secured the winning point, and the two-time major winner’s consistency and composure could prove invaluable in the pressure-packed environment at Bethpage.

XANDER SCHAUFFELE

Age: 31

World ranking: 4

Ryder Cup appearances, record: Two (2021, 2023), 4-4-0

Schauffele missed the start of the year due to a rib injury and while he failed to build off a 2024 campaign during which won two majors he found form late he is expected to be one of the American side’s most vital players.

J.J. SPAUN

Age: 35

World ranking: 6

Ryder Cup appearances, record: First appearance

Spaun earned automatic qualification to the U.S. team after a banner year during which he had three runner-up finishes and six top-10’s on the PGA Tour, including a triumph at the U.S. Open for his first major championship.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER

Age: 29

World ranking: 1

Ryder Cup appearances, record: Two (2021, 2023), 2-2-3

Scheffler is coming off a remarkable season during which he earned five wins and 16 top 10s in 19 PGA Tour starts, including triumphs at the PGA Championship and British Open.

JUSTIN THOMAS

Age: 32

World ranking: 5

Ryder Cup appearances, record: Three (2018, 2021, 2023) 7-4-2

Thomas, the most experienced member of the U.S. squad, has more match wins than any of his teammates and the veteran leader also boasts a perfect 3-0-0 record in Singles play in the biennial competition.

CAMERON YOUNG

Age: 28

World ranking: 20

Ryder Cup appearances, record: First appearance

Young may be making his Ryder Cup debut but will be doing so in his home state and at a familiar Bethpage Black layout where he won the 2017 New York State Open as an amateur after firing a then course-record 64 in the final round.
