Germany approves weapons worth about $2.6 billion, Bloomberg News reports

(Reuters) – German lawmakers have approved weapons and equipment orders worth about 2.5 billion euros ($2.6 billion) for the armed forces in the last parliamentary session before the snap election, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday.

The purchase includes part of a new communication system worth 1.8 billion euros ($1.87 billion) for the Bundeswehr, infantry supplies worth 417 million euros and anti-tank arms and weapon stations for 100 million euros, the report added, citing people familiar with the matter.
