July 24 (Reuters) – A panel of advisers to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday voted to place a popular peptide called Semax on a list that would allow broader pharmacy compounding.

Eight panel members voted in favor, while five voted against. One member abstained.

The panel has backed five other peptides. The FDA is not bound by the panel’s recommendations and will ultimately decide whether to loosen restrictions on the peptides.
