Feb 3 (Reuters) – Walt Disney tapped theme-parks chief Josh D’Amaro as CEO on Tuesday, succeeding long-time head Bob Iger as the entertainment giant navigates the shift from linear television to streaming in an era of media consolidation.

Here are five things to know about the new CEO:

Josh D’Amaro – D’Amaro is chairman of Disney Experiences, which includes the parks, resorts, cruise line, consumer products and games unit, a role he has held since May 2020

– He previously served as president of Walt Disney World Resort from 2019 to 2020 and president of Disneyland Resort prior to that

– D’Amaro joined Walt Disney Co in 1998 after early-career work in corporate finance; he has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgetown University

– As parks chief, he has been responsible for the aggressive expansion of the business: he helped announce and lead a roughly $60 billion, multi-year investment program to expand parks, cruises and experiences

– Under his leadership, Disney reported a 6% jump in revenue at the Experiences segment in fiscal 2025, with a record $10 billion in operating income for the segment.
