BEIJING (Reuters) – China on Tuesday hit back against the United States with retaliatory tariffs and placed export and investment restrictions on 25 U.S. firms on national security grounds, though it refrained from punishing big U.S. household names.

Here are four new names targeted by China:

LEIDOS HOLDINGS

Headquartered in Virginia, Leidos develops hypersonic weapons. In December, the U.S. Air Force awarded the aerospace firm a $987 million contract for F-16 fighter jet support to the Taiwanese military. It was put on China’s export control list.

GIBBS & COX

Acquired by Leidos in 2021, the naval architecture company specializes in designing sea surface warships. Its past projects include designing anti-submarine warfare frigates for Taiwan. It was put on China’s export control list.

IPVM

Several reports by the surveillance company IPVM have focused on Chinese surveillance camera producer Hikvision, which it has said worked with the Chinese government to track and monitor minority Uyghurs. Rights groups and the U.S. government have accused China of abuses against Xinjiang’s Uyghur population, which China denies. It was put on China’s export control list.

SOURCEMAP

It provides software solutions for supply chain transparency and due diligence checks. Some global brands have used Sourcemap’s services to vet cotton from China’s Xinjiang region. It was put on China’s export control list.
