Former first-round pick and three-time All-Star third baseman Evan Longoria will announce his retirement at a Tampa Bay Rays game next month.

Longoria, 39, is retiring as a Ray during a pregame ceremony on June 7 ahead of a game against the visiting Miami Marlins.

Longoria last played in the majors for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2023 season, a run that included the second World Series appearance of his career. He was on the losing end both times.

He played 10 seasons with the Rays (2008-17) before five seasons with the San Francisco Giants (2018-22).

Longoria finishes with a .264 average, 342 home runs, 1,930 hits and 1,159 RBIs in 1,986 games over 16 seasons.

He was named American League Rookie of the Year with the Rays in 2008, the same year he led the team to the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. He is also a three-time Gold Glove winner.

The Rays drafted Longoria No. 3 overall in 2006 out of Cal State Long Beach.
