Dodgers keep rolling, top Mariners for another series win

Dalton Rushing hit a three-run homer, Mookie Betts added a two-run double and the Los Angeles Dodgers earned a 6-2 victory over the visiting Seattle Mariners on Thursday to win their fourth consecutive series since the All-Star break.

Roki Sasaki (5-5) gave up two runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings with three walks and seven strikeouts as the Dodgers improved to 24-5 against the Mariners since 2012. Sasaki has a 1.50 ERA through three starts after the break.

Teoscar Hernandez hit a home run as the replacement at designated hitter for Shohei Ohtani, who was given a day off due to left knee soreness.

Randy Arozarena had an RBI double among his three hits for the Mariners, who went 2-5 on their road trip that opened with a 1-3 showing in an American League West showdown series against the Texas Rangers.

Seattle right-hander Bryan Woo (7-8) was moved up a day in the rotation Thursday and allowed five runs on five hits in five innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. Woo fell to 1-8 with a 6.71 ERA in 12 road starts this season.

The Dodgers got to Woo in the first inning when Betts delivered his two-run double. Rushing hit his three-run homer off Woo in the fourth inning, his 12th of the season.

The Mariners chased Sasaki from the game in the sixth, getting a leadoff triple from Cole Young and Arozarena’s RBI double. Sasaki departed after allowing a bases-loaded walk to Cal Raleigh that brought Seattle within 5-2.

Dodgers left-hander Jack Dreyer prevented any further damage when he struck out Rob Refsnyder and got Weston Wilson to ground out with the bases loaded.

Los Angeles right-hander Edwin Diaz pitched a scoreless ninth in his second consecutive outing since returning from an elbow procedure.

Dodgers utility man Enrique Hernandez went hitless in three at-bats as he started in left field while playing his third game of the season and first since returning from an oblique injury on Tuesday.
