The Arizona Diamondbacks placed right-hander Anthony DeSclafani on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday because of inflammation in his right thumb.

In a corresponding move, Arizona recalled right-hander Casey Kelly from Triple-A Reno.

DeSclafani, 35, last pitched on Tuesday, lasting three innings and allowing two runs on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts in a 3-2 victory over the host Texas Rangers in Arlington.

He is 1-2 with two saves, a 4.36 ERA, 11 walks and 31 strikeouts in 33 innings over 11 games (four starts) since signing as a free agent with Arizona on June 15, three days after he opted out of his minor-league deal with the New York Yankees.

For his career, DeSclafani is 55-58 with two saves, a 4.21 ERA, 262 walks and 861 strikeuts in 975 2/3 innings over 191 regular-season games (173 starts) for the Miami Marlins (2014), Cincinnati Reds (2015-16, 2018-20), San Francisco Giants (2021-23) and Diamondbacks.

Kelly, 35, has pitched 1 2/3 innings in two relief appearances for Arizona this season, allowing one hit, one walk and no runs. He was 2-5 with a 5.82 ERA, 33 walks and 42 strikeouts in 85 innings over 18 games (14 starts) at Reno.
