Former PGA Championship winner Davis Love III said he is faring well following open-heart surgery.

CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz initially announced during the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open on Saturday that Love underwent the procedure. Love, 60, confirmed it in a statement later in the day.

“The procedure was successful and I’m now at home recovering,” Love III said in his statement, per the PGA website. “I went in healthy and came out healthier. I’m extremely grateful for all the well wishes, prayers, and messages I have received. I have been blessed with great care at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.”

Love noted the procedure was done to “replace a valve issue that my doctors had been monitoring for the last 10 years.”

He went on to thank his doctors before taking a look toward the future.

“I’m grateful for them and their teams’ expertise and care, and I am motivated to prove them right and get back to playing golf by this summer!” Love said.

A 21-time winner on the PGA Tour, Love captured his lone major at the 1997 PGA Championship. He also won the Players Championship on two occasions (1992, 2003) and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2017.

Love was the captain of two U.S. Ryder Cup teams, with the United States winning in a rout in 2016 and narrowly losing in 2012.
