(Reuters) -Primoz Roglic will not start in the stage 13 of Tour de France following a crash the previous day, his team Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe said on Friday.

The 2023 Giro d’Italia winner Roglic was brought down 12 km from the finish line on Thursday, a day after losing 25 seconds after another crash on stage 11.

Slovenian Roglic went through medical examinations after the crash and on Friday morning, his team wrote on X.

“He had two crashes in a row. Just too much to continue. We, as a team, feel super sorry for him. We need to find new goals and to redefine ourselves,” said Rolf Aldag, sports director of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe.

“He really is followed by bad luck. What is impressing about him, he always fight back. The Primoz that I get to know is a super strong fighter.”

Roglic was sixth in the overall standings after he finished Thursday’s race.
