The Washington Commanders’ long list of 2025 injuries lengthened again Tuesday when the team announced it placed rookie cornerback Trey Amos on injured reserve with a fractured fibula.

Amos, a second-round pick in this year’s draft out of Ole Miss, appeared in 10 games with eight starts this season before sustaining the injury in Sunday’s 44-22 loss to the Detroit Lions. Coach Dan Quinn said the injury will keep Amos sidelined for “a while.”

Amos, 23, has recorded 32 tackles and six pass breakups this season. He’s the second Commanders cornerback to be placed on IR in as many weeks after starter Marshon Lattimore was moved there last Tuesday with a torn ACL.

The team announced on Monday that Amos, quarterback Jayden Daniels (left elbow), wide receiver Treylon Burks (finger) and linebacker Ale Kaho (concussion) would not be traveling with the team for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. The NFL’s first game in Madrid, Spain, will be a matchup of 3-7 teams.

As corresponding moves for Amos’ IR stint, Washington signed wide receivers Robbie Chosen and Jacoby Jones to the active roster from the practice squad. Chosen has 53 yards on five catches in two games for the Commanders this season while Jones, an undrafted rookie from UCF, has yet to appear in an NFL game.
