BEIJING (Reuters) – A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday that Japan should respect Chinese judicial sovereignty, in response to queries about reports of a Japanese man being sentenced to 12 years in prison for espionage in China.

Chinese judicial authorities handled the case in strict accordance with legal procedures, ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a regular press conference.
