BEIJING, March 30 (Reuters) – China has launched the World Data Organisation, a professional body to promote orderly data development and utilisation as well as its governance globally, according to state television CCTV.
Here are some details of the organisation:
* The organisation aims to “break barriers” around differentdata policies in different countries by promoting industryconsensus, and helping multinational enterprises reduce datacompliance costs. * It also aims to build ecosystems through applying data inpractical scenarios such as medical care, education, and energyto promote project implementation and industrial innovation. * Rapid expansion of AI has made data a central driver ofeconomic growth, creating a need for a globally recognisedplatform to address data-related challenges, said Tan Tieniu,chairman of the World Data Organization. * The organisation has amassed more than 200 members frommore than 40 countries. * Its membership includes companies, universities, thinktanks, international organisations, financial institutionsacross industries such as finance, medical care, energy,internet and automobiles.
