Cardinals’ Victor Scott II leaves game with apparent leg injury

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II left Saturday’s game in the sixth inning vs. the Yankees with a left ankle sprain. He had jammed his foot into the base of the outfield wall attempting to make a leaping catch on Aaron Judge’s third-inning homer. He waas replaced by Garrett Hampson.

The Yankees went on to claim a 12-8 win in the second game of the teams’ weekend interleague series. Scott, the No. 9 hitter, went 1-for-2 at the plate with a run and an RBI. He’s batting .223 in 116 games as the Cardinals’ starting center fielder.
