Canada puts the brakes on assisted suicide

(SRN NEWS)-A few months ago, the government was on track to expand the category of people eligible to take their own lives with a doctor’s help to those who are mentally ill — but not terminally ill.  Outrage built across Canada at this announcement and expanded internationally, with even the United Nations expressing concern.  Now the government in Ottawa says it is abandoning any effort to let the mentally ill kill themselves and will pass a bill to that effect.
