The Denver Broncos placed safety Brandon Jones on injured reserve with a pectoral injury.
The Broncos (12-2) announced the move Monday, one day after he was hurt during a 34-26 win over the visiting Green Bay Packers. He will miss Denver’s final three regular-season games and its first playoff game before he’s eligible to return.
P.J. Locke likely will move into the starting lineup in place of Jones, who has recorded 78 tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery and a half-sack in 14 games (13 starts) this season.
“Good. I thought real well, real well,” Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Monday when asked how Locke played in the second half against the Packers. “He has played a lot of football.”
Jones, 27, has totaled 431 tackles, 8.5 sacks, seven interceptions, five forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries in 84 career games (58 starts) with the Miami Dolphins (2020-23) and Broncos. He was selected by the Dolphins in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
