Brazil’s Bolsonaro expected to leave hospital on Friday, doctor says

SAO PAULO, March 25 (Reuters) – Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is expected to be discharged from hospital on Friday, the doctor treating him told reporters on Wednesday, adding that Bolsonaro may require shoulder surgery in the future.

* Bolsonaro, 71, has been hospitalized since March 13 fortreatment of an acute form of pneumonia. * The former president underwent tests after reporting painin his right shoulder, with initial assessments suggesting hemay need surgery in the future, lead doctor Brasil Caiado said. * The injury might have been aggravated by a fall inJanuary, in which Bolsonaro hit his head, Caiado said. * Bolsonaro has been serving a 27-year prison sentence sinceNovember for plotting a coup. * On Tuesday, Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraesgranted him permission to serve his sentence under house arrestfor 90 days due to health concerns.
