(Reuters) -Warner Bros Discovery on Wednesday named former media executive Brad Singer as the chief financial officer for its studio and streaming business after completion of the company’s planned separation next year.

Singer will report to David Zaslav, who is set to become president and CEO of Warner Bros. They earlier worked together at Discovery Communications.

The media giant is splitting its units into Warner Bros and Discovery Global, unwinding a merger in less than four years to grow the streaming and studios business without the drag of the declining networks unit.

Singer will become the CFO of Warner Bros, which houses the crown jewels of WBD’s entertainment library, including Warner Bros and DC Studios as well as the HBO Max streaming service.

The global networks unit will include its cable networks, CNN and TNT Sports as well as the Discovery+ streaming service.

“Brad was instrumental in driving significant value creation and growth during our time together at Discovery Communications,” Zaslav said in a statement.

Prior to joining investment firm ValueAct Capital in 2012, Singer served as the finance chief of Discovery Communications, which merged with WarnerMedia in 2022 to form Warner Bros Discovery.
