NEW YORK (Reuters) – Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will take their rivalry to a bigger venue this season, with the Chicago Sky moving a pair of games against the Indiana Fever to the home of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls for the first time.
Two of the league’s most popular players, Fever sharpshooter Clark and her fellow All-Star Reese will face off Chicago’s United Center on June 7 and 27.
“Given the explosive growth in the WNBA, we now have a first-ever opportunity to invite more fans to experience this matchup at a larger venue of the United Center,” Sky President and CEO Adam Fox said in a statement on Friday.
The Sky typically play in the 10,000-capacity Wintrust Arena but will be able to welcome a potential crowd of more than 20,000 at the United Center, which also hosts the National Hockey League’s Chicago Blackhawks.
Clark and Reese, who have famously played one another since their teenage days, led a talented rookie class last year as TV ratings surged following Clark’s record-breaking final collegiate season.
The WNBA regular season begins on May 16.
