(Reuters) -The Detroit Tigers shattered more than the Cleveland Guardians’ hopes for a winning start in the American League Wild Card Series, as one of Tarik Skubal’s pitches clipped Angel Martinez’s bat before breaking the lens of a camera directly behind the batter.

Skubal, who registered 14 strikeouts as Detroit beat hosts Cleveland 2-1 on Tuesday, threw a 100mph pitch during the fourth inning, which took a thin deflection off the bat before flying directly at the stationary camera, sending shards of glass flying.

“Do you think Angel will get billed for that?” the commentator joked on ESPN as a crew cleaned up the glass while the game was held up.

Cleveland will hope to clinch the series by beating Detroit on Wednesday and Thursday, and book their place in the Division Series against American League West champions Seattle Mariners.
