MILAN, Jan 28 (Reuters) – Bank of America has appointed Vito Lo Piccolo as country executive for Italy, an internal memo showed on Wednesday, replacing Nino Mattarella, who is retiring from the firm.

Lo Piccolo, who will be based in Milan, will oversee the delivery of the bank’s services in Italy and support the growth of its local franchise, reporting to Bernie Mensah, President of International, who signed the memo.

He replaces Mattarella after serving as head of investment banking for Italy, having joined Bank of America in 2021.

Lo Piccolo started his career in banking, which spanned over 25 years, at Merrill Lynch and later held the role of deputy general manager at Italian state investor Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, where he oversaw indirect investments and asset management businesses.

Mattarella will work with Lo Piccolo during the transition period, Mensah said, adding the bank would announce in due course a new head of investment banking for Italy.
