Australian Clinical Labs says limited data taken in SunDoctors cyberattack

June 18 (Reuters) – Australian Clinical Labs said on Thursday that a cyber incident at an external IT service provider used by its SunDoctors unit led to unauthorised access to a limited portion of systems, with some data taken.

Here are some details:

• SunDoctors’ investigation found that most of the affected data consisted of basic contact details and some health information, largely related to skin cancer checks and testing, the pathological services provider said, adding that there was no evidence that the information had been disclosed online.

• The breach occurred at an external IT provider used by SunDoctors, which the clinical testing group had first flagged in April.

• The probe could not identify which individuals were affected, so SunDoctors decided to notify a broader group of around 280,000 people that their information may have been accessed.

• Australian Clinical Labs said the incident was confined to part of SunDoctors’ systems and that its broader pathology and laboratory operations were not impacted.
