Austin FC midfielder Owen Wolff underwent surgery for a sports hernia but is expected to “make a full recovery by mid to late February,” the club announced Wednesday.

The operation was performed Tuesday.

Wolff, 21, appeared in his first matches with Austin in 2021 as the club’s first homegrown player. In 120 total MLS appearances (80 starts), Wolff has tallied 10 goals and 13 assists.

In January, he signed a contract with Austin through June 2030.

Austin FC also announced on Wednesday that defender Jon Gallagher has agreed to a contract extension guaranteed through the 2027-28 season with an option for 2028-29.

“Having been with this club through our first five seasons on the pitch, I feel a unique connection to the fanbase and community here,” said Gallagher, 29, an MLS All-Star in 2023. “I love this club and city and want to continue working hard on what we’ve built.”

Gallagher played in 34 games (29 starts) in 2025 and recorded one goal. He added another goal in the MLS Cup playoffs. His 14 career goals across all competitions rank third most in Austin FC history, according to the club. He has 17 goals and eight assists in 175 MLS games (133 starts) for Atlanta (2019-20) and Austin (2021-present).

Austin opens the MLS season at home on Feb. 21 against Minnesota United.
