Two missionaries are honored
VERBATIM: Davy Lloyd and his wife Natalie were working at a mission in Haiti earlier this year when they were murdered by one of the country’s numerous gangs. Now their alma mater, Ozark Bible Institiute and College, has announced a scholarship in the couple’s name. The school says “This scholarship is an effort to encourage future generations to follow Davy and Natalie’s example by devoting their lives to Christian missions.” Michael Harrington, SRN News.

President Biden reaches out to the LGBT community.
VERBATIM: A spokesman for his campaign tells NBC News that Mr. Biden and his surrogates plan to appear at more than 200 Gay Pride events in the month of June. The blitz is aimed at getting homosexuals excited about voting for the president in November, as they did in 2020. Biden and Trump voters disagree on key cultural issues
VERBATIM: That seems like a given but the Pew Research Center wanted to prove it and has just released a poll on the matter. Can a person change their gender? 59% of Biden supporters say YES versus only 9 percent of Trump supporters. And just 19% of people who plan to vote for Biden think the country is better off when people prioritize marriage and children versus 59% of Trump voters who believe that. Hate crimes charges are dropped against a Christian in Iowa.
VERBATIM: Last Christmas an image of Satan was set up at the State Capitol by the Satanic Temple, prompting Michael Cassidy to enter the building and knock it down. He was arrested and prosecutors decided to charge him with a hate crime against Satanism, to the surprise of many. The hate crimes charge, which carries heavier penalties, has now been dropped in return for Cassidy’s decision to plead guilty to a third-degree criminal mischief.

A drag performance took place at the Vatican’s new event for kids this month.
VERBATIM: Pope Francis inaugurated the first-ever World Children’s Day festival in Rome. It’s unclear if he was aware that amongst the entertainment options for small children was a drag show. Youtube video shows a large group of kids at the festival venue watching a man in a dress and women’s make-up dance for them. The Pope has already sparked division in the Catholic church by allowing priest to bless same-sex civil unions.

The Southern Baptist Convention is coming to Indianapolis.
VERBATIM: The country’s largest Protestant denomination will hold its annual summer convention June 9th through the 12th in the state capital. The theme of this year’s event is “One Mind, One Voice” based on Romans 15 verses five and six. The SBC continues to seek gradual decline in overall membership — as most denominations are — but involvement by individuals in their local churches is actually intensifying.

Finally, some good news from Nigeria.
VERBATIM: The army has rescued about 350 people kidnapped by the Muslim terror group Boko Haram. Most of the victims are women and children and a lot of them are Christians. Boko Haram and other Muslim terrorists have been wreaking havoc in Nigeria for decades, killing tens-of-thousands of Christians as they seek to establish Sharia Law in the country. The government has been largely unable or unwilling to address the problem.

Peru takes a stand on transgenderism.
VERBATIM: If you are a man and believe that you are actually a woman, or a woman who believes she is actually a man, you are suffering from mental illness. That is what the government of Peru maintains and President Dina Boularte has made it official, signing a degree that classifies transgenderism as a form of mental illness. LGBT groups at the national and international level are attacking, suggesting that Peru should be the target of sanctions.

A victory for free speech in California
VERBATIM: Libraries across the nation allow all kinds of groups to use their conference rooms — even drag queens who read picture books to children. But last summer when Moms For Liberty tried to host a discussion of transgenderism in sports at a Yolo County library, officials shut them down. Alliance Defending Freedom threatened a lawsuit and the library system has backed down, agreeing not to violate the free speech rights of conservatives or Christians.

There’s a big opportunity for the gospel in this country.
VERBATIM: In Matthew Nine Jesus says “the harvest is plentiful” and new research from the American Bible Society testifies to that fact. The ABS survey reveals that there are at least 65 million people in the U.S. who are curious about the gospel and want to hear more. The study indicates that most of these people are members of either Generation Z or the Baby Boom, live in the South and visit a church from time to time.

Black Protestants are turning away from the Democratic Party
VERBATIM: According to data analyzed by Eastern Illinois University Professor Ryan Burge, 60% of African-American Protestants strongly supported the party in 2008. Today only 49% do. Burge says Democrats are losing Black Protestants in part because the party has embraced the LGBT agenda and other causes that run contrary to black voters’ religious beliefs. While some Black Protestants are becoming Republicans, others are going independent.

A new poll asks people of faith about abortion
VERBATIM: It comes from the Public Religion Research Institute and it reveals that the vast majority of those who adhere to some faith group think abortion should be legal all or most of the time. White Evangelical Protestants are the only major religious cohort in which a majority opposes abortion — 72%. The poll reveals that even amongst Black Protestants and Catholics of all ethnicities, large majorities support abortion.

Are you satisfied with your life?
VERBATIM: According to a wide-ranging Gallup Poll, only 47% of Amerians are “very satisfied” with their personal life — the lowest percentage in nearly 15 years. However, the survey also reveals that people of faith and those who are married are MORE satisfied than the general population. 56% of regular church-goers say they are “very satisfied” with their personal life, as do 57% of people who are married.

Most Evangelical Christians don’t think the label is political
VERBATIM: According to a new poll from Gray Matter Research and Infinity Concepts, only two percent of Evangelicals say the term is defined by a specific set of political beliefs. This despite the fact that the mainstream media uses Evangelical as exactly that: The label for a particular segment of the U.S. electorate. The survey also finds that more than one third of Evangelicals think the term is misused and another third aren’t really sure what it means.

Billy Graham will be honored at the U.S. Capitol.
VERBATIM: A statue of the celebrated evangelist will be unveiled this month, putting him in the company of about 200 Americans who have received such an honor. Graham’s son Franklin says “My father would be humbled and grateful. At the same time, he would not want the attention on himself but on God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.” The pedestal of the Graham statue will be engraved with John 3:16.

How close do you feel to other people?
VERBATIM: A new poll from the Pew Research Center asks that question and it reveals that 66% of the general population says they DO feel close to other Americans. And religion is a determining factor. Amongst people of faith, 73% say they feel close to others, compared to just 51% of people who are not religiously affiliated. Older Americans, conservatives and Republicans are also more likely to feel close to others.

Going to church is good for your health.
VERBATIM- And not just your spiritual health. A new report from Harvard Public Health compiles numerous studies and concludes that people who attend worship regularly feel better. The report says weekly church attendance is associated with “lower mortality risk, lower depression, less suicide, better cardiovascular disease survival, better health behaviors, and greater marital stability, happiness, and purpose in life.” Michael Harrington, SRN News.

The 2024 election might be all about faith

Leaders of both conservative and liberal church groups are planning national get-out-the-vote campaigns heading into an election that many believe will be one of the most important in U.S. history. The National Council of Churches, which includes most liberal denominations, has announced a “Freedom Summer” initiative. The conservative Faith and Freedom group will spend 60 million to register voters.

The United Methodist Church loses more congregations
VERBATIM: This time they’re not inside the U.S. UMC delegates have voted to allow a large group of churches in Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan leave the denomination over issues of homosexuality. Thousands of congregations in this country have quit the UMC in recent years as its leadership has embrace gay marriage and homosexual ordination. The Eurasian congregations will form a new more conservative denomination.

Evangelicals want action on immigration
VERBATIM: According to a new survey by LifeWay Research, the surge in illegal border crossings during the Biden administration is worrying Evangelical Christians. 80% want Congress to take action to stop the flow. Lifeway spokesman Scott McConnell says “The urgency continues to grow for Congress to act this year to improve laws around immigration.” The poll also finds that Evangelicals are concerned for the welfare of illegal aliens and want to share the gospel with them. VERBATIM: Most people think Hollywood is trashing religion. And not just in America. The study, released by HarrisX and the Faith and Media Initiative, finds 63% of GLOBAL viewers say the movies and TV shows they watch usually portray religious people in a bad light — and they don’t like it. Most Americans want control over what their kids are exposed to in school
VERBATIM: The latest poll from the Pew Research Center reveals that 54% of adults believe mom and dad should have the right to opt their child OUT of classes that teach about sexual orientation and so-called “gender identity”. Republicans are much more likely than Democrats to feel this way — 79% to 32%. The federal government is spending taxpayer dollars to change college biology classes
VERBATIM: The National Science Foundation is giving nearly one million bucks to several universities so they can develop so-called “inclusive” undergraduate biology courses because current offerings “inaccurately categorize sex and gender as binary.” The NSF says if college professors try to tell young people that science defines only two genders — male and female — this will make transgender students uncomfortable. An NCAA official quits over transgenderism
VERBATIM: William Bock does not believe that men should be allowed to compete against women. The employer does — and so Bock has resigned.
