Trump campaign distances itself from Puerto Rico “joke”
The Trump campaign is distancing itself from some of the controversial content from the New York City rally. One of the headlines from Trump’s event at Madison Square Garden was the comment by a comedian who described Puerto Rico as a “floating island of trash.” A Trump campaign spokesperson said the “joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.” On the same day as the rally, Vice President Harris visited a Puerto Rican restaurant in Philadelphia — and her team was quick to criticize the Trump rally rhetoric.

The speaking line-up at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally featured a long list of Trump’s friends and allies. Guest speakers ranged from vice presidential nominee JD Vance to former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan. Members of Congress also showed up, including Representative Byron Donalds of Florida, who said common sense would return under Trump. Throughout the rally, speakers repeatedly criticized Kamala Harris and predicted a Trump victory on Election Day.

Early voting data, of course, only shows who cast ballots, not how they voted. But the numbers reflect a growing number of Americans voting by mail or doing in-person early voting.

But with a neck-and-neck race so close to Election Day, the vice president is increasingly going on the attack. She’s closing out her campaign painting a dark vision of the country if Donald Trump is sent back to the White House, including airing video clips at her own rallies of Trump’s controversial rhetoric.

It recommends bringing in new, outside leadership and refocusing on its protective mission. A gunman fired at Trump during a July campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Without new leadership, the independent panel warns that “another Butler can and will happen again.”

Five new long-haul flights are being added to Ronald Reagan National Airport. The Transportation Department has tentatively awarded one daily round-trip flight apiece to Alaska Airlines, American, Delta, Southwest and United at Reagan National. Federal rules limit the number of flights longer than 12-hundred 50 miles from the airport. But this year, Congress approved five new daily flights at the airport, which is closer to downtown DC than Dulles airport.
