The White House is cranking up the pressure on GOP lawmakers to put aside their differences. However, serious disagreements remain. Fiscal conservatives want deeper spending cuts, moderates want to protect Medicaid coverage. In addition to extending tax cuts, the bill also proposes big spending increases for border security and defense.
