Former U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers [R-Mich] says he’s running for the open Senate seat in Michigan. Rogers announced on Monday he’ll seek the Senate seat of Democrat Gary Peters [D-Mich] who won’t seek another term. Rogers is just coming off a close loss to Democrat Elissa Slotkin [D-Mich] inthe 2024 contest for the seat of now retired Senator Debbie Stabenow. Peters’s retirement presents Republicans with a better chance to flip the seat fromblue to red, in their effort to expand the GOP majority in the Senate.

DOGE: Illegal Biden Parolees Lived Large On Government Benefits
DOGE is reporting more than 6000 illegals paroled into the U.S. by President Biden had criminal records or were on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center watch list. On its X account DOGE reports among the 6,300 paroled aliens with criminal or terrorist records ALL obtained social security numbers. 905 were collecting Medicaid, including 4 on the terrorist watchlist. For that alone some $276k was paid out.- 41 collecting Unemployment Insurance, receiving $42k in benefits
– 22 received federal student loans totaling $280k. – 409 received tax refunds (2024 only) for $751k. An undetermined number were awarded Food Stamps

Some disappointing news for President Trump and Senate Republicans from former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu [R-NH]. Sununu has announced he will NOT run for the seat of Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen , who says she won’t be running for re-election in 2026. Republicans, including the president, had seen Sununu as the perfect candidate to flip the seat from Blue to Red. Still the National Republican Senator Committee says it remains optimistic. It’s own poll earlier this month showed Republicans with a 1-point advantage on the state’s generic ballot, and leading Democrats by a margin of 92-87 PERCENT, when it comes to vter enthusiasm.

A leading economist says Trump Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is putting a new spin on some age old Democrat talking points. E.J. Antoni with the Heritage Foundation says when Bessent says “It’s Main Street’s turn” the administration runs on the assumption that a thriving Main Street will be better for Wall Street in the long run.

An expert on international trade says President Trump has his work cut out for him in achieving fair trade deals with dozens of foreign governments. Former California congressman John Campbell [R-CA] says as we all know by now when it comes to unfair trade China is the worst violator. But Campbell tells the Salem Radio Network achieving fair trade with 75 other countries will amount to a lot of painstaking negotiation. Campbell says since World War II the U.S has been the only country engaging in free trade and that’s put a damper on many U.S. industries.

Sara Wynn-Williams told the Senate Crime and Terrorism subcommittee she saw executives at Meta-fomerly known as Facebook-quote ““repeatedly undermine U.S. national security and betray American values” One of her most shocking claims is that Meta decided to share user data with China, including that of American users. Also that Meta’s technology has been used by China to advance its own AI technologies such as DeepSeek. Medta describers Wynn-Williams claims as “divorced from reality” and “riddled with false claims.”

A former chief of staff for the National Security Council says President Trump’s effort to revitalize U.S. manufacturing has major implications for national security. Alex Gray says although Americans may assume it’s given the U.S. has the industrial capacity it would need to fight a war that that it’s simply not so. Gray says the U.S. only rose to the challenge in WWII because it was able to retool an already a strong industrial base. One he says no longer exists but that President Trump is trying to rebuild.
Senate Confirms Mike Huckabee As U.S. Ambassador To Israel
The Senate has confirmed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee [R-Ark] as U.S. ambassador to Israel. On a mostly party line vote the Senate approved Huckabee’s nomination 53-46. Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman was the only Democrat to vote in favor. Huckabee is known for his unwavering support for Israel, and has said he believes it has the right to annex both the West Bank and Gaza strip. Huckabee takes over the role even as Israel seeks to eliminate Hamas from Gaza and secure the release of the remaining hostages, which include one American.
