Poll: Trump Endorsed Bernie Moreno Has Big Lead In Ohio GOP Primary

A new poll gives a Trump-endorsed Senate candidate a big edge in today’s (Tuesday’s) Republican primary in Ohio. An Emerson College survey released on Monday gives Bernie Moreno a NINE-point edge over his closest GOP rival. That’s after former President Trump paid a visit over the weekend TO campaign on his behalf. Ohio is of critical importance to Republicans who believe they can flip the seat of Democrat Sherrod Brown in their quest to reclaim the Senate majority.

Emerson Poll: Trump Endorsed Moreno With Big Lead Heading Into Ohio GOP Senate Primary

Former President Trump’s preferred candidate has opened up a big lead in Ohio’s GOP Senate primary. According to an Emerson College poll released on Monday, Bernie Moreno enjoys a NINE point lead—38-29%-over his closest GOP rival Matt Dolan. The survey was conducted after former President Trump travelled to Ohio to campaig for Moreno on Saturday. Republicans are hoping their nominee will be strong enough to flip the seat of Democrat Sherrod Brown in November in their bid to recaim the Senate majority.

Trump, Netanyahu Blast Schumer’s Call For New Israeli Elections

Former President Donald Trump has some harsh words for the Senate’s top Democrat. Majority Leader Schumer last week called for new elections in Israel, accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of losing his way in war against Hamas. Former President Trump agreed with Fox News host Howard Kutz on Sunday that Schumer’s words amount to the U.S. telling an ally how to run its own government. ““There’s no question about it,” Trump said. Adding that both the Demcrats and President Biden are “bad for Israel”. Netanyahu also hit back at Schumer, calling his remarks “totally inappropriate”, adding that -quote-“We’re not a Banana republic.”

Senator Lindsey Graham [R-SC] Meets With Zelensky In Ukraine

Senator Lindsey Graham [R-SC] met today (on Monday) with President Zelensky in Ukraine. Zelensky wrote on “X” that he met with Graham to discuss additional war funding for Ukraine, as well as the country’s eventual inclusion into NATO. Graham is one of the Senate’s most outspoken advocates of additional aid for Ukraine, but also voted against an earlier bill over concerns it failed to addrress security at the U.S. souther border. During his meedting with Zelensky Graham said -quote- “Putin will go down in history the way all people like Putin go down in history, it’s just a matter of time,”

Former Senator Jim Talent says President Biden’s talk of “red lines” in Gaza is leaving both supporters and detractors of Israel confused about U.S. policy. Talent says there’s a big downside to the president’s on-again off-again rhetoric on Gaza, namely that it’s causing Hamas to hope Israel will eventually succumb to international pressure and end it’s campaign in Gaza. Something he says is causing the terrorist organization to hold out in Rafah and refuse to release hostages.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is calling on Israel to hold new elections. The senate’s top Democrat says he believes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has “lost his way” in the Israeli bombardment of Gaza and a growing humanitarian crisis there. Schumer,- the first Jewish majority leader in the Senate-says the prime minister has put himself in a coalition of far-right extremists. Supporters of Netanyahu says Israel gas been forced to fight Hamas in Gaza and that the terrorist group is to blames for civilian deaths by using the population as human shields.

Rep. Gallagher Says TikTok Bill Will Protect From CCP Propaganda

Congressman Mike Gallagher [R-Wisc] says he favors the House-passed bill that would force new ownership of TikTok if it’s allowed to operate in the U.S. . Gallagher says there’s one big problem with TikTok. It’s owned by ByteDance which is controlled by China, and is therefore beholden to the Chinese Communist Party, and has a big platform for disseminating  CCP propaganda. The bill bans social media control in the U.S. by any of the countries listed as “foreign adversaries”. The bill is expected to pass in the Senate next week.

Senate Veterans Affairs Hearing Puts Focus On Suicide Prevention

Veteran suicide prevention took center stage Wednesday at a special hearing before the Senate Veteran’s Affairs Committee. National Commander of the American Legion Daniel Seehafter said veteran suicide remains a major problem. Congressman Mark Takano [D-CA] was happy to report that because of implementation of the Compact Act over the past year more than 50,000 veterans have received free mental health counseling over the past year.

Republicans are debating amongst themselves the merits of new restrictions on TikTok.  Some conservatives Republicans favor forcing the sale of TikTok because it’s controlled by China. Libertarian leaning GOP senator Rand Paul says by banning Tik Tok the U.S. is actually limiting free speech, much like China. Former President Trump doesn’t like the idea of taking TikTok away from the 1/3 of all Americans who use it, especially millions of young voters, this election year.

Democrats Threaten To Cut Arms Shipments If Israel Invades Rafah

Democrats are warning they’ll move to cut off all arms shipments to Israel if it invades the Hamas stronghold of Rafah. The threat comes from Maryland Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen [D-MD] who said President Biden needs to hold Israel accountable, if it invades Rafah, violating what Biden has called a “red line.” The president is demanding Israel provide concrete details of its plans to protect civilians. Something that’s nearly impossible for Israel to do given that Hamas continues to operate in civilian areas, using the population as human shields.

Some has come from Republicans. However some in the GOP says the over-the-top lampooning of Britt by Democrats reminds them of the visceral hatred liberals showed toward then Alaska Governor Sarah Palin when she was John McCain’s running mate. Like Palin, Britt is a potential Trump running mate. One—GOP insiders say–Democrats fear could peel away women voters from Joe Biden in November.

Menendez and his wife pleaded not guilty to 12 new charges,icluding obstruction of justice even as they were being investigated for allegedly accepting bribes. The couple is accused of conspiring with THREE co-defendants to throw investigators off the trail after they had earlier beein charged with accepting bribes from Egypt, in exchange for the senator’s political influence.

Democrat PAC To Spend $239-Million On Seven Key Senate Races

A group of Democrat donors has amassed a fund of $239 MILLION aimed at protecting SEVEN Democrat-held senate seats Republicans are hoping to flip in November. Control of the Senate will almost certainly rest on the outcomes in SEVEN states currently held by Democrats or those who vote with them in the upper chamber. Nearly half the money raised by the Senate Majority PAC is earmarked for sitting Democrats in the pro-Trump states of Ohio and Montana. GOP wins in just TWO of the SEVEN races would revrerse the Democrats’ paper-thin 51-49 majority.

Sen. Bob Menendez [D-NJ] Facing 12 New Charges

Prosecutors have brought a dozen new charges against embattled New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez. The new charges bring the total number of charges to 16, and include charges of obstruction of justice and bribery. They come after one of the senator’s co-defendants took a plea deal, and agreed to cooperate. The senator is accused of accepting luxurious bribes, and of a cting as an agent of the Egyptian government.

Senate Bill Would Prohibit EV Car Rentals Unless Requested

Senator Tom Cotton [R-Ark] has proposed a bill that would prevent car rental companies from providing customers with electric vehicles unless requested. It’s called the Requiring EV Notification and Transparency Act —or the RENT ACT- of 2024. Cotton told Fox News rental companies should—quote—“not advance Democrats’ radical climate agenda and make customers rent EVs if they don’t want to.” Should customers be given an electric vehicle without optin in the law would allow them to terminate their rental contract without fees.

Dr. Simon Johnson of MIT told the committee that one challenge to a strong workforce is known as “stranded expertise” in which experts find themselves made irrelevant by emerging technology such as Artificial Intelligence. Lawmakers and the military trying to find ways to integrate critical AI solutions, while maintaining a strong and motivated military workforce.

Polls: Americans See Immigration As Top Concern

A pair of new polls may change the tone of some Democrats when it comes to supporting the president’s open border policy. Even as Republicans and Democrats remain at loggerheads here on the Hill over border reforms, a new Gallup poll shows immigration has leaped to the top of the list of concerns for most Americans. The survey shows 28% cited immigration as the most important problem facing the country in February, up from just 20% who said that in January. 61% of respondents to a Monmouth Poll say immigration is a very serious concern and 53% say they support construction of a border wall separating the U.S. from Mexico.
