A well-known foreign policy expert says Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s effort to avoid escalation in actually having the opposite effect. Political writer Ben Domenech says Blinken is committed to avoiding escalation in all foreign conflict. But he says that very mindset is making things worse. Domenech says just as in medicine so in military conflict, zero escalation is often not an option.

Trump-endorsed conservative Hug Cao (hung COW) has captured the GOP Senate primary in Virginia. The retired Navy Captain hopes to flip the seat of Democrat incumbent Tim Kaine in November. The outspoken conservative used a campaign ad to blame President Biden for the lawsuits against Donald Trump and for rising crime.. He also took aim at cancel culture’s attack on free speech—quote-”You know it. But you also know that you can’t say it. We’re forced to say that wrong is right.” Democrats are confident they can hold Kaine’s seat, but Republican election officials say there’s a good chance they can flip the seat from Blue to Red.

Senator Cruz is demanding changes to a number of amendments to the Spectrum and National Security Act over what his critics-like Democrat Chuck Schumer [D-NY]-call “petty partisan culture wars.” Cruz wants the Senate Commerce Committee to change language that in his words would have given “free internet to illegal aliens, millions to antisemitic colleges, and billions to mega-corporations with no strings attached.”

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum [R-ND] says electing Donald Trump could help the country save money on it’s defense budget. Burgum says it normally costs hundreds of billions of dollars to discourage aggression by U.S. adversaries. He says much of that money could be saved simply electing Donald Trump. He says Trump represents a 180-degree opposite of Joe Biden who he says has empowered Iran with billions of dollars, and seen new alliances form between Tehran, China, and Russia.

Schumer Mocked For Fathers’ Day Grilling Post Fail

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer [D-NY] is facing ridicule for posting a picture of himself grilling hamburgers on Father’s Day. In a Father’ Day post on X Schumer includes a photo that shows him smiling over a grill filled with hot dogs and hamburger patties. Viewers quickly noticed the patties allappears to be raw-frozen in fat-including one covered with a slice of cheese. Critics quick to lampoon the Democrat leader included Donald Trump Jr who wrote “no one puts cheese on a raw beef patty,”. “If you need help learning how to do basic grilling stuff let me know.”\ Following a barrage of ridicule Schumer deleted his post on Monday.

A GOP senator says President Biden’s lax border policies nearly led to a deadly terrorist attack. Senator Steve Daines made the charge at the Republicans weekly press conference. This week, eight suspected ISIS terrorists were arrested in the U.S. after coming across the southern border. Daines told reporters back in February Central Asian visitors warned him that thousands of people from that region were flooding across the border. Says Daines. “ The only thing more shocking than our unsecure southern border is that we haven’t had a terror attack on our soil. Yet.”

The bill, put forward by senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Katie Britt of Alabama sought to protect individuals seeks in vitro fetrility treatment. It would bar states that ban IVF from recieving federal medicaid money. Democrats say the bill doesn’t go far enough. Their own bill is expected to be rejected by Republicans Thursday for going too far in what the GOP calls an unnecessary attack on freedom of religion. Poll: Despite Conviction, Trump Leading Biden By 5 Points In Georgia

Despite his conviction by a New York jury, Donald Trump leads Joe Biden by FIVE points in a new survey of Georgia voters. 49% of respondents to a Quinnipiac University poll say they would for for former President Trump in a hypothetical head-to head matchup while 44% say they would vote for Biden. Independent voters are evenly split 45% say they would vote for Trump, 45 for Biden. Trump gains an additional point over Biden in an additional SIX candidate race.

Manchin Leads Challenge To Biden Border Rules For “Sponsors” Of Unaccompanied Minors

Former Democrat-now Independent- Senator Joe Manchin is leading the charge against new immigration rules he says put unaccompanied minor at risk. He’s leading some 45 Republicans on a resolution that would overturn new Bide rules on the care of unaccompanied minor. When such minors are arrive in the U.S., they are nornally given into the custody of a sponsor. Manchin says the administrations latest vetting process for such sponsors is so lax it leaves the children at peril of winidng u in the costody of child traffickers and criminals. Manchin says the Biden rules fail to address what he calls the “cycles of exploitation” that are empowered by illegal immigration.”

Senate GOP Hopes To Advance House Passed ICC Sanctions Bill

Senate Republicans are pushing a bill to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court. The bill comes even as the ICC ponders whether to grant an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The bill passed the House on Tuesday, with the support of 42 Democrats and all Republicans. It enjoyed greater bi-partisan suppport until President Biden expressed opposition, which led most Democrats to reject the bill. It’s not expected to pass the Senate where it’s likely to get full support from the GOP but none from Democrats.

Cruz Has Sideline Meeting With Hanks, Spielberg In Normandy

Senator Ted Cruz [R-TX] says he got a chance to meet with two master storytellers in Normandy on Thursday to mark the D-Day invasion. Cruz says he met with director Steven Spielberg and actor Tom Hanks, also in Normandy to mark the 80th anniversary of allied invasion of occupied France. Along with a picture of himself alongside the Hollywood stars Cruz wrote on X ““Ran into Steven Spielberg & @tomhanks, two master story-tellers who have done a beautiful job chronicling the incredible heroism of the Greatest Generation,” Hanks starred in and Spielberg directed 1988’s Saving Private Ryan, depicting the allied landing on Omaha Beach on June 6th, 1944.

He remains the only Democrat holding statewide office in Montana and Joe Biden lost to Donald Trump there in 2020.

Republican Senator Katie Britt [R-Ala] is blasting the Democrats’ “Right To Contraception Act”. Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade, Democrats have been using the issue to rally pro-abortion voters. Now Senator Katie Britt says Democrats are engaged in what she calls a “Summer of scare tactics” and “fearmongering”, by suggesting the need for new legislation. Britt notes that contraception remains available in every state and that she and other Republicans support it. Access to contraception is also protected nationwide by two landmark Supreme Court rulings.

Senator Menendez is embroiled in a corruption scandal, and faces numerous charges after prosecutors alleged he and his wife accepted payment in exchange for influence. The senator said in March he would not run to retain his seat as a Democrat. Now referring to himself as an “independent Democrat” Menendez hopes to win re-election based on his track record since enterring the Senate in 2006. Biden Policy Grants Effective Amnesty To 350,000 Migrants In U.S.

A new investigation reveals that President Biden has granted amnesty to more than 350,000 asylum seekers. The New York Post was the first to reveal that since 2022 the federal government has closed asylum cases for hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers. Closing the cases does not mean amnesty has been granted, but it does allow the migrants to remain indefinitely inthe U.S. with no fear of deportation. Former Immigration Judge Andrew Arthur-now with the Centre For Imigration Studies-says -calls the poicy “just a massive amnesty under the guise of prosecutorial discretion.”

Bernie Sanders Vows To Boycott Address By “War Criminal” Netanyahu

Senator Bernie Sanders [I-VT] is vowing to boycott an appearance by Israel’s Prime Minister before a joint session of Congress. Senator Sanders calls Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu a “war criminal” and says it’s a “sad day” for the U.S. that the invitation came from both political parties. Israel has come under fire from critics over a large number of civilian deaths as the terrorist group Hamas continues to use th population as human shields in Gaza. A letter inviting Netanyahu last week read: “We join the State of Israel in your struggle against terror, especially as Hamas continues to hold American and Israeli citizens captive and its leaders jeopardize regional stability,”

Senate Candidate First To Use Trump Conviction In Campaign Ad

A Montana Senate candidate has become the first to use the conviction of Donald Trump in a campaign ad. GOP Senate candidate Tim Sheehy seeks to unseat incumbent Democrat Jon Tester, who he accuses of taking part in a corrupt Biden effort to jail former President Trump.
Sheehy also includes an old interview clip in which Tester said somebody should punch Donald Trump in the face. There’s been an outpouring of support within the GOP for Trump since the verdict, with soe analysts suggesting the conviction virtually assures Trump gdets re-elected in November.

The conviction of former President Trump is causing some of his critics to show their support. Senate Republican leader Mitch Mcconnall —who rarely has anything good to say about Trump-was quick to say the “charges never should have been brought in the first place”. He also predicted the conviction would be overtrned.Similar sentiments coming from moderate GOP Senator susan Collins, and even Trump’s estranged former VP Mike Pence. 25% of Republican respondents to an NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll conducted before the verdict said they would be more likely to vote for Trump if a jury found him guilty.

Manchin Leaves Democrats, Registers As Independent

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin [I-WV] has left the Democrat Party and registered as an Independent. Manchin pulled the plug on his affiliation with Democrats citing partisanship on both sides of the aisle posing what he sees as a threat to Democracy. Posting on X he writes: -quote-“To stay true to myself and remain committed to put country before party, I have decided to register as an independent with no party affiliation and continue to fight for America’s sensible majority,” Manchin is not running for re-election to the senate and signaled this week he won’t seek to reclaim his old job as governor in west Virginia.
