Border Crisis Takes Center State On Day Two Of RNC

The border crisis took center stage today as the GOP stressed the theme “Make America Safe Again” on day TWO of the RNC in Milwaukee. Senator Ted Cruz says some of the more than 1.5 million illegals who’ve crossed the border have committed violent crimes. Senator Tom Cotton [R-Ark] accused President Biden of inducing illegals to come. The program also featured family members of victims who were killed by illegals that crossed President Biden’s open border.

WV Justice Predicts GOP Election Sweep At RNC

Popular West Virginia Governor Jim Justice is predicting his party will win a major victory in November. Governor Justice began his speech at the RNC by telling delegates Donald Trump is not only smart but loves America and its people. And he predicts Trump will lead the party to victory on November 5th. Governor Justice is expected to do his part. He’s considered a shoo-in to flip the seat of retiring WV Senator Joe Manchin, and help the Republicans in their battle to reclaim the Senate majority.

Police Shoot, Kill Man Just Outside RNC Venue In Milwaukee

Tragedy marred the start of day TWO of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Police officers shot and killed a man witnesses say was acting in a threatening manner just outside the secure perimeter around Fiserve Arena just hours before Day Two activities were set to get underway. The man was shot while walking across a street near a homeless encampment where he lived. Witnesses say the man had at least two knives and had thrown one at the officers. An investigation is underway. Bob Agnew, reporting from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

4000 Officers Travel To Milwaukee For Added Security At RNC

Some 4000 police officers from around the country are in Milwaukee this week to provide additional security for the Republican National Convention. Correspondent Bob Agnew reports from the convention. Even before the weekend assasination attempt on Donald Trump some 4000 police officers were scheduled to be here in Milwaukee to provide additional security. Their presence isn’t hard to see as one tried to get around anywhere near the convention. At various checkpoints I spoke with officers from Indiana, Oregon and Ohio. Senator JD Vance Selected As Trump’s Running Mate

Donald Trump has selected Senator JD Vance to be his 2024 running mate ., Bob Agnew reports from the Republican national Convention in Milwaukee. Just before delegates here at the convention began casting their ballots to nominate Donald J Trump as their presidential candidate the former commander in chief announced on his Truth Social account he was selecting Senator Vance to be his running mate. Vance had been widely touted as th likely selection. A conservative and former United States marine, Vance shot to fame after publication of his book Hillbill Elegy in 2016. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022.

One political analyst says President Biden turned in a “middling” performance in his Thursday press conference. Analyst Ben Domenech says the fact is most Americans weren’t even watching . And while Republican critics may focus on the president’s gaffes , Democrats and media supporters will say Biden showed his grasp of critical issues. Some Democrats are voicing concerns the problems surrounding Joe Biden’s re-election campaign could haunt the party all the way through the November election. Some leading Dmocrats are worried Biden’s problems may also impact downballot candidates. That include some in races key to-the party’s chances to hold the Senate and retake the House. Democrat Senator Peter Welch of Vermont pulls no punches when he says “The age issue just isn’t going to go away. Each day is a day older,” Just hours before he became the first Senate Democrat to call on the president to withdraw from the race., Welch (D-Vt.) said of the intra-party turmoil -quote-“Sooner is better than later to have this resolved.”

Democrat Senator John Fetterman [D-PA] is pushing back on former House Speaker Pelosi’s suggestion Joe Biden should drop his bid for re-election. He told CNN Pelosi herself has never run for higher office. Senator Ted Cruz [R-TX] predicts Democrats will force President Biden to drop his campaign for re-election and replace him with one of two prominent black women. Senator Cruz says Biden will be forced out, and replaced by either VP Kamala Harris or former first lady Michelle Obama. Cruz told Fox News the Democrats have known for some time Joe Biden was mentally impaired, but are taking action now only because “ they realize the American people have seen that, and they’re terrified he’s going to lose in November…” Some polls have given both Harris and Obama a slight edge over Donld Trump.

Senate Democrats will huddle with White House officials on Thursday to discuss their concerns about the president’s ability to lead the party to victory in this year’s election. A growing number of Senate Democrats have voiced concerns about Joe biden’s prospects for re-election, especially after his poor debate performance two weeks ago. NONE have cazlled on him to bow out, but pressure is growing for the white house to address concerns a poor Biden performance will damage downballot candidates as well. Among them, Democrat Senators Jon tester of Montana and Sherrod Brown of Ohio. Flipping their vulnerable seats would likely allow Republicans to reclaim the Senate majority.

Decision Desk: GOP Has 82% Chance Of Flipping Senate, 65% Holding House

A new political forecast gives Republicans a 65% chance of holding their majority in the House. Decision Desk HQ says Republicans have increased their advantage by 1% since it’s forecast earlier this week, and are now seen as favorites to clinch 11 of 16 up-for-grabs House seats.
The forecast also gives Donald Trump a 58 percent chance of capturing the White House, and Republicans an 82 percent chance of flipping the Senate.

Emerson Poll: Trump Leads VP Harris, Other Potential Biden Replacements

Donald Trump leads Vice President Kamala Harris by SIX points in a new Emerson College poll that pits the former president against likely rivals in the 2024 election. 49% of respondents say they would vote for Trump compared to 43% for Harries if the two squared off in November. In that scenario EIGHT percent remained undecided. In a hypothetical matchup with Joe Biden trump gets 46%, Biden 43, with with 11% undecided. Respondents also say they would select Trump over Democrats Bernie Sanders-by SIX points-, Hillary Clinton-by SEVEN, and California Governor Gavin Newsom by EIGHT.

Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe Dies At The Age Of 89

Former U.S. Senator James Inhofe [R-OK] is being remembered as a staunch conservative and for pushing back on the environmentalist claims that human activity was to blame for “global warming”. Senator Inhofe’s family says he died Tuesday morning after suffering a stroke over the 4th of July holiday weekend. Inhofe was an unabashed conservative known for his strong support of defense spending and his denial that human activity is responsible for the bulk of climate change. He once called global warming “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.” He was a powerful force in Oklahoma politics for more than SIX decades, and died at the age of 89.

Senate Republicans have introduced a bill to require that this year’s Federal Student Aid application forms be released in October. The forms typically go out in October, but lawmakers have expressed concerns after the Department of Education failed to release them util December of last year. Republicans introduced a bill on Monday to require this year’s forms Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) be released in October after the revamped applications’ botched rollout last academic GOP Senator bill Cassidy [R-LA] says another delay in the forms could cause an entire class of students to skip college since they don’t know if they can afford to go. He says the bill will hold Education Secretary Miguel Cardona accountable, and make sure the forms for the next school year go out on time.

A Senate panel this week will take a closer look at the privacy issues tied to the rise in Artificial Intelligence. The Senate Commerce committee says it will hold a hearing on Thursday to address concerns about how AI-in the words of a committee statement has “accelerated the need for a federal comprehensive privacy law,” The hearing comes amid growing pressure for Congress to pass such a law, as well as new AI rules.
