Former Congressman Jason Chaffetz is sounding the alarm about the buying and selling of your personal data. Chafettz [R-UT] calls most Americans “naive” about the collection and use of their information. He says the  government collecting and selling your data. And Chaffetz says, that may be the least of our worries, given the government’s sometimes poor job of keeping the information secure.  Chaffetz spoke with the Salem Radio Network about his new book They’re Coming For You.

Blue states continue to pay an economic price for policies that punish the rich. Jonathan Williams with the American Legislative Exchange Council says there’s a simple maxim:

A constitutional attorney says the fact the DOJ is proceeding with a grand jury probe indicates it’s moving forward with possible charges in the so called “Russiagate” hoax used against Donald Trump Mark Weaver says empanelling a grand jury is a big statement from the DOJ. Weaver says it’s still early to say whether the grand jury investigations will net any indictments.

Author and crime expert John R. Lott Jr. says President Trump’s federal presence in Washington DC is bound to make a.dent in the city’s crime rate. Lott says it’s not that hard to see that the was to cut crime is to make it more costly for people to commit crime.  He says that can happen with more arrests and convictions, and harsher sentences, and allowing people to defend themselves.  Lott says that’s not happening in DC, which only has some 1,300 patrol officers. A burden he says will be eased by Trump’s deployment of some 800 National Guard troops. Lott is the author of More Guns, Less Crime, and spoke with the Salem Radio Network.

The Census Bureau says the U.S. population of foreign-born residents is rapidly decreasing under President Trump. The latest Census Bureau numbers show the total number of foreign-born people in the country dropped by 2.2 million from January to July. Most of those who left-1.6 million- came from the illegal immigrant population. The numbers show an unprecedented turnaround in that illegals are now leaving the country at an even faster rate than the 120,000/month that flooded into the country under President Biden.

A conservative political organizer says Republicans should have no qualms about redistricting in Texas and elsewhere to add new congressional seats. Ned Ryun with American Majority says there’s a long history of the parties in power redrawing election maps. In an interview with the Salem Radio Network Ryun also had a message for Republicans:“You Were Given Political Power For A Reason. You Should Use It.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbot [R-TX] is ridiculing Democrats for fleeing the state to prevent a vote that will create five new congressional districts. Something out of character with the values that help found the state with battles like the Alamo. Abbott says he’ll call one special session after another if that’s what it takes to allow a vote.

A former Israeli ambassador to the U.S. says it’s nearly impossible for Israel to negotiate a peaceful settlement with Hamas. Dr. Michael Oren says many favor a simple in which Israel would pull out of Gaza in exchange for the hostages but he says Hamas will never give up all the hostages. And he says all negotiations take place amid a backdrop of very different values..especially whn it comes to the values of human life.

A legal scholar says President Trump is well within his rights to take control of law enforcement in the nation’s capital. Michael O’Neil with the Landmark Legal Foundation says the president has every right to federalize the DC police. He says the unusual step was taken only because of the ongoing crisis of high crime.As for those advocating statehood for the District, O’Neil says it’s unlikely Congress could approve a consitutional amendment to allow for DC statehood.

Transgenderism is emerging as a major battle line in next year’s midterm elections. In the Virginia governor’s race Republican Winsome Earle-Sears castigates her Democrat opponent —Abigail Spanberger-for approving biological boys in girl’s locker rooms. In Georgia a GOP ad takes aim at incumbent Senate Democrat Jon Ossoff as it shows a male basketball player knocking a female player to the ground.The announcer says “man-to man defense isn’t woke enough for Ossoff.”. Ossoff’s seat is seen as perhaps the most likely to flip from Blue to Red, as Republicans seek to hold and even expand their Senate majority.

Democrat Senator Ruben Gallego [D-AZ] continues to show signs of a likely run for the White House in 2028. Senator Gallego appeared to be laying the groundwork for a presidential bid as he toured the state of Iowa over the weekend. He took aim at President Trump and the Republican’s Big Beautiful Bill, claiming new testrictions on Food Stamps and Medicaid were maqking Americans poorer and less healthy. Iowa republicans fired back, saying instead of running for president Gallego shlould be back in Arizona, where citizens voted for the Trump agenda in 2024.

Republican strategist Erin Maguire says Democrats are trying to find their footing but face one serious disadvantage. Maguire says the strategy right now is to malign President Trump. Some thing the 2024 election should have taught them wouldn’t work. Another failed approach..the use of insulting language by the likes of Jasmine Crocket and Beto O’Rourke, a strategy she says is driving away many voters.

Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza City is getting a thumbs up from a leading intelligence expert.Retired Lt. Colonel Tony Shaffer (SHAY’-fer) says occupation may be the only way to end the war, but he admits it would likely spell doom for the hostages.

Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt [R-MO] says Republicans need to get out the message that the Big Beautiful Bill is loaded with benefits for some of the hardest working Americans. Senator Schmitt says the tax and spending mega bill was a major legislative victory for the Republicans and tax-savvy business owners. Now he says it’s time to make sure everyday Americans see the benefits for themselves. Especially those likely to benefit  from no taxes on tips and overtime. Schmitt says Republicans also need to  drive home the point that all Americans should experience more peace and safety thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill’s investment in the military and border security.

Texas Senator John Cornyn [R-TX] says the U.N has been unable to distribute food in Gaza because Hamas insists on commandeering the aid shipments. He says Hamas would no doubt steal the food outright or divert it to other purposes. Cornyn says Israel is the victim of a disinformation campaign by Hamas , blaming Israel for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Majority Leader John Thune [R-SD] says he’s considering using an extended recess to allow President Trump to bypass the Senate confirmation process for a backlog of nominees. Democrats have done a successful job of holding up confirmations and now the backlog is so severe Republican leaders are considering alternatives. Majority Leader Thune has suggested it may be time for a rules change that would make it harder for the minority party to delay confirmations. A more short term solution would be to rely on the president’s power to make recess appointments. If he chooses that route, Thune would need to get 50 Republican on board, and convince the House to also take an extended recess.

The Senate has begun consideration a fiscal 2026 budgdet bill that -for the first time in decades-includes no funding for the Corporation For Public Broadcasting. The Appropriations Committee has begun its work on annual bill funding the departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education —which in the past has including funding for the CPB. But that funding was the target of a recednt rescission bill that clawed back some reviously approved money.  Committe member Democrat Patty Murray calls it “shameful”, but many Republicans favor the cuts, long accusing NPR and PBS of political bias in favor of the Democrats.

The CIA and Department of Justice have declassified new documents related to the “Russia Collusion” hoax and sent the material to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement  the DOJ provided committee chairman Senator Chuck Grassley with previously classified information relating to what she called “Special Counsel Durham’s investigation into possible coordination between the Clinton campaign and the Obama administration to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.” The CIA wrote on its X account  that the disclosure -quote-“further advances President Trump’s directive for maximum transparency”.

Not all Trump supporters agree that Fed chairman Jerome Powell should have cut interest rates this week. Former California Congrssman John Campbell [R-CA] says the Fed has to wory about TWO things, inflation and unemployment. Campbell says as a businessman and real estate investor at heart President Trump tends to see the upside of lower interest rates. But for seniors and other living off their savings the president’s sought after ONE percent drop in interest rates would amount to a 25% reduction in their annual income.

The powerful 8.8 Russian earthquake is drawing attention to the potentially deadly effects of tsunamis. Salem News Channel meteorologist Stephen Parr says the Russian quake was even stronger than the one that led to the 2004 Indonesian Tsunami. Since that tragedy forecasters and coastal officials around the world have adopted a much more pro-active approach toward issuing warnings and evacuation orders.

A White House communications official says the DOJ is leaving no stone unturned in its investigation into the Epstein files. Special Assistant to the president Harrison Fields says the president may have more to say about the Epstein case once the investigation concludes. As for critics or even Trump supporters worried he may be slow walking the probe to protect hi own administration, Fields says it’s simply not the case

A Senate bill would give Americans a rebate from the new revenues coming in from President Trump’s tariff victories. Senator Josh Hawley has introduced a bill that would provide $600 tariff rebates to nearly allAmericans and their dependent children. .Hawley said in a statement -“Like President Trump proposed, my legislation would allow hard-working Americans to benefit from the wealth that Trump’s tariffs are returning to this country,” The legislation would be modeled on the direct payments Congress authorized in the 2020 CARES Act,
