GOP Governor Blasts Harris Plan To Tax Unrealized Investment Gains

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin [R-VA] says one of Kamala Harris’ economic proposals would send the U.S. economy into a downward spiral. Youngkin takes issue with Harris’ proposal to tax Americans for investment gains they haven’t yet realized. He says it would be the first time Americans would be forced to pay Capital Gains taxes with money they don’t have.

Navy Secretary Violated Law By Endorsing Biden On Overseas Trip

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel says Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro broke the law by endorsing the reelection of Joe Biden and criticizing former President Trump while on official duty overseas. The agency said Del Toro’s comments, which were made before Biden dropped out of the presidential race, violate the Hatch Act. It prohibits U.S. officials from engaging in political activity while they are on duty and from “using their official authority or influence to interfere with or affect the result of an election.” Career government officials found to have violated the Hatch Act can be fired, suspended or demoted and fined up to $1,000,

Vision, Mental Health May Be Linked Says Johns Hopkins Study

A new study draws a link between vision impairment and dementia. A new study from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health concludes nearly 1 in 5 demential cases could be associated with some form of vision impairment. The most well-known form of dementia is Alzheimers disease but the CDC notes dementia refers to a wide range of impairments to one’s ability to recall, think, or make decisions. The new study offers hope that better eye health could be one way to lower the diagnosis rate.

Trump Says Musk Would Oversee New Government Efficiency Commission

Donald Trump says if elected in November he’ll create an government efficiency commission and that it would be overseen by billionaire Elon Musk. The commission is the latest alliance between Trump and Musk, who has become an increasingly vocal supporter of Trump’s bid to return to the White House. The Republican presidential nominee said in 2022, “fraud and improper payments alone cost taxpayers an estimated hundreds of billions of dollars.” He says the new commission would recommend what he calls “drastic reforms” and develop a plan to eliminate fraud and improper payments within six months..somethingnhe says would save trillions of dollars.

House To Vote On Bill Linking Budget Budget CR To Election Integrity

House Speaker Mike Johnson [R-LA] has unveiled a Trump-backed plan to avoid a government shutdown. The proposal would accomplish two goals for Republicans and the former president as they look ahead to the November election. One would be a Continuing Resolution to avoid a partial government shutdown at the end of the month. The other would help safeguard the integrity of the election by attatching a piece of legislation known as the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibilty-or SAVE-act. It would require proof of citizenship for those who register to vote. Next week’s likely House passage will set the stage for a showdown with the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Oversight Committee chairman James Comer [R-KY] has opened a probe into allegations the TSA targeted whistleblowers who exposed fraud and abuse at the TSA. One such case involves a Federal Air Marshall whistleblower who caims his wife was improperly labeled a “domestic terrorist” , just for sttending President Trump’s speech on the National Mall on January 6th of 2021.He also notes the case of former Representative Tulsi Gabbard who left the Democrat party and says she was recently placed on the terrorist watchlist for supporting Donald Trump and criticizing Kamala Harris.

Cal Dems Advance Zero Down, Zero Interest Home Loan Bill For Illegals

California’s Democrat-controlled senate has passed a bill providing illegal immigrants access to zero down, zero interest home loans. It’s called the Dream for All Shared Appreciation Loans program, and has allocated $255-MILLION to allow select applicants access to loans of up to $150,000 with no interest, nothing down, and no payments until the property is sold or refinanced. The program was set up as a lottery style drawing in which 1,700 applicants could gain a major advantage for entry into the home market, compliments of the taxpayers. The latest version of the program approved by California Democrats allows illegals to enter the drawing. The bill passed with no Republican support, and has yet to be signed by Governor Gavin Newsom.
