Senator Rick Scott Says Poorest Hit Hardest By Milton

Florida Senator Rick Scott [R-Fl] says a lot of people in his state are still hurting after being hit hard by Hurricane Milton. Scott tells the Salem Radio Network the hardship has been most severe for those of little means. And for many, that means losing their homes simply not built to withstand all the powerful forces that accompany a Category 3 hurricane like Milton. Scott also says recovery has been nearly impossible with his state hit by a string of powerful storms in recent years. Not  the least of which was Category 4 Hurricane Helene just a few weeks ago.

Poll: Cruz Expands Lead Over Allred In Texas Senate Race

A new poll shows Ted Cruz [R-TX] expanding his lead over Democrat challenger Colin Allred [D-Tx] . A University of Houston survey shows Cruz with a four point edge, up from a two point lead in mid-August. The poll shows 50-percent of Texas voters hold Cruz in a favorable light, but only 46 percent feel the same about Allred, a three-term House Democrat. Facing almost certain losses in West Virginia and Montana, Senate Democrats have poured mllions into Texas in the effort to beat Cruz. If the trend continues, flipping the seat from Red to Blue appears unlikely.

Senator Jon Tester Rakes In $30-Million In Bid To Hold Montana Seat

Democrats are investing heavily in what appears to be an uphill battle to re-elect Senator Jon Tester [D-MT] in November. If Tester loses to Republican challenger Tim Sheehy it won’t be for lack of spending. Tester reports to the FEC his campaign raised just over 30-MILLION dollar in the THIRD quarter. Democrats have been pouring money into his campaign as a Tester loss may be the key to Demodrats losing their slim one-vote majority. Despite the Democrat spending, Sheehy leads in the polls.

Tillis Warns GOP Colleagues Against Senate Rules Change

North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis [R-NC) is warning his own party not to adopt new reforms he says could empower Democrats in the next Congress. Some conservatives have proposed procedural reforms that would give rank-and-file senators more control ovder what happens on the Senate floor. It would make it easier for senators to get a vote on amendments they favor. But Senator Tillis warns the changes are likely to empower Democrat leader Chuck Schumer even if his party winds up in the minority.He write in a “Dear Colleague” letter -quote-“I believe it would be unwise to go down that path,”

Gallup: Americans Trust State, Local Governments More Than Media, Congress

A new Gallup poll says Americans have more trust in their state and local governments than they do in Congress or the media. 67 percent of those responding to the poll said they had a “great deal” or “fair amount” of trust in their local government. Compare that to 34% who say the same about Congress and just 31% who say they trust the mass media to report the news “fully, accurately, and fairly.”  55% say they trust their state governments.

Trump Highlights Cruz Endorsements On Truth Social

Former President Trump is highlighting his endorsement of Texas Senator Ted Cruz [R-TX]. In a post on Truth Social Trump calls Cruz “one of the strongest Senators in the Country on Border Security. He blasts Cruz’s opponent Democrat Collin Alred [D-TX]  -quote-“ Radical Open Border Extremist, who will put our Country, and Safety, LAST. “ According to an average of Texas polls compiled by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ Cruz leads Alred by 2.7 points.

AZ Dems Say Split-Ticket Voting Favors Gallegos Over Lake Even If Trump Wins

Democrats are hoping a history of “split-ticket” voting  in Arizona means their Senate candidate will win even if Donald Trump captures the state’s presidential vote.  Polls indicate Trump enjoys a slight edge over Harris in Arizona, something that would normally portend a GOP advantage in the Senate race as well. But Democrat poiticos note the state has seen an abnormal amount of split-ticket voting in the recent past, and say that bodes well for Democrat Senate candidate Ruben Gallegos. Republicans looking to buck this year are hoping all those who cast ballots for Trump will also vote for GOP senate candidate Kari Lake.

A popular Democrat senator warns Elon Musk may help Donald Trump defeat Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania. Outspoken Democrat Senator John Fetterman is warning his party not to take lightly the appeal Musk has to some Pennsylvania voters. He said in a weekend interview Musk appeals to a demographic Democrats struggle with. At a Trump rally in Butler, Pensylvania Musk told the crowd Democrats want to -quote-“take away your freedom of speech, they want to take away your right to bear arms, they want to take away your right to vote, effectively.” Fetterman warns that Democrats who mock or dismiss Musk do so to their own peril.

SC Senator Tim Scott Reportedly Aiming to Head Up NRSC

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott [R-SC] is reportedly aiming to become the Republican’s point-man for senate elections in the next Congress. Unlike this year the 2026 election is shaping up to be a challenge for Republicans.  So if Scott is elected by the party to serve as chairman of the National republican senatorial committee he’ll have his hands full.  The 2026 map offers only TWO likely opportunities for Republicans, and the GOP exposed to losses with 20 of the 33 seats in play held by Republicans. Taking on the challenge would help Scott advance his reputation as a major player in the Senate GOP leadership.

The top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee says it will take a Trump victory in November to give the country the defense infrastructure it needs to stand up to China. Senator Roger Wicker [R-Miss] says the experts al agree it’s time to get back to Ronald Regans formula for peace through strengtH. But he says it’s hard to afford when Democrats insist on wasteful domestic spending as part of the deal. Something Wicker tells the Salem Radio Network has put a strong defense budget out of reach.

Senate Democrats Seek DOJ Probe Of Boeing Executives

A pair of Democrat senators are calling for the government to investigate Boeing executives for allegedly putting profits over safety. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal penned a letter to the Justice Department complaining of what they has been lax oversight of Boeing in recent years. In cases where passenger safety has been compromised the pair complain about relatively small fines, coupled with what they call “a toothless commitment to improve aircraft safety. The letter also notes Boeing has cycled through THREE CEO’s over the past SIX years.

Some Democrats in Congress are accusing Israel of timing its war strategy to help Donald Trump in the November election. Some say Israel’s decision to mount a ground offensive just prior to November 5th amounts to foreign election interference. Says Senate Foreign Relations Committee member Democrat Chris Murphy “I certainly worry that Prime Minister Netanyahu is watching the American election as he makes decisions about his military campaigns in the north and in Gaza,” Some Democrats fear the Middle East in chaos reflects poorly on the Biden/Harris administration’s foreign policy and puts candidate Kamala Harris in a bind as she tries to appease anti-Israel voters in her own party.

Pennsylvania Democrat Bob Casey [D-PA] hopes a visit from President Biden will be a boost for his Senate re-election campaign. The white house says President Biden will hold a campaign event for Casey on Tuesday. The rally will be in Philadelphia, following the president’s stop in Wisconsin. Casey is locked in a tough battle with Republican challenger David McCormick. Flipping Casey’s seat from Blue to Red would be a major victory for Republicans as they seek to regain the Senate majority.

Poll: Senator Rick Scott Leads Democrat Opponent By Six Points

Florida Senator Rick Scott [R-FL] has a commanding lead against the Democrat hoping to flip his Senate seat in November. A poll by Napolitan News Service shows Senator Scott with a SIX point lead over Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. Scott has accused his oppenent of trying to portray herself as moderate despite what he says has been an exteme leftist voting record in the House. The same survey shows former President Trump leading Kamala Harris by TWO points-50-to-48 percent-among Florida voters.

Congressman Waltz says that’s why he’s introduced the “Ships For America Act”, something he says Will revitalize both civilian and defense maritime industries. Waltz and Democrat Senator Mark Kelly plan to introduce their bi-partisan bill after the November election.

Blinken Defies House Subpoena On Botched Afghanistan Withdrawal

Secretary of State Antony Blinkin defied a congressional subpoena Tuesday to appear at a House hearing into the botched U.S. pullout from Afghanistan. The House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing Tuesday into the bungled U.S. departure three years ago.  Blinken was required by the subpoena to appear before the panel and answer some tough questions about the mishandled withdrawal that left 13 Americans dead. New revelations show the U.S. also left behind millions in cash, advanced biometric data, and a significant amount of classified intormation. The stage is now set for Blinking to become the first ever Secretary of State  to be held in contempt of Congress…

Manchin Won’t Endorse Harris Over Plans To End Filibuster

Kamala Harris’ pledge to destroy the Senate filibuster has cost her the support of a key Democrat ally. Former Democrat, now Independent West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin normally votes sith his former party but now says he won’t be able to endorse Harris in her bid for the white house. She’s called for ending the filibuster so Democrats can use legislation to permanently legalize abortion, with no Republican support. “Shame on her!”, Manchin told CNN. He says ending the filibuster would destroy the country-quote-“the only thing that keeps us talking and working together”.

Judge Delays Sentencing For Former Sen. Menendez Until 2025

A judge has delayed until next year the sentencing for former Democrat Senator Bob Menendez. The former senator was convicted back in July on all 16 counts he was facing. They ranged from using his political influence in exchange for bribes, to acting as a foreign agent of Egypt. Menendez spent more than 30 years in Congress, nearly 20 of them in the Senate where he at one time served as chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. He now fces the prospect of decades in prison.

Senate Bill Would Mandate Warning Labels For Social Media

A bi-partisan bill in the Senate would require mental health warning advisories for Social Media. The Stop the Scroll Act is a joint effort from Republican Katie Britt [R-Ala] of Alabama, and Democrat John Fetterman [D-PA] of Pennsylvania.  According to a press release the bill seeks to  inform users of the potential mental health risks of social media and provide access to mental health resources,  The bill requires that pop-up warning labels—created by the surgeon general and the Federal Trade Commission-appear each time user log on to Social Media. Earlier this year the surgeon general described Social Media as a contributing factor to what he called a menatl health emergency among young people.
